Cranberry Nut Bread


This delicious bread is a favorite of our family during the holidays. Pat sometimes makes as many as 30 loaves between Thanksgiving and Christmas, as gifts to our family and friends


2 cup sifted flour
1 cup sugar
1 egg, well beaten
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoons salt
1/3 cup orange juice
1/2 cup water
2 tablespoons salad oil
1 cup chopped nuts
1 cup cranberry halves
2 teaspoons grated orange rind


Sift flour with sugar, baking powder, soda and salt in a large bowl. Combine orange rind, juice, water, egg and oil. Add all at once to dry ingredients. Stir in nuts and cranberries. Turn into a well greased 9X5X3 in. pan. Bake at 350 deg. 50 to 60 min. Cool before slicing.
